Flat-Pack Trainer Materials
Sheet materials for the 3LS and 5LS trainers. To be cut by CNC router.
| ID | Description | True Thickness | Router Bit Diameter* | Acceptable Thickness | 3D Model Router Bit** | 3D Model Sheet Thickness** |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | 1/2″ Plywood | 0.472-0.475” | 1/4” (6mm) | 0.47-0.48” (11.9-12.2mm) | 0.255” (6.48mm) | 0.4874” (31/64”) (12.38mm) |
*The router bit mentioned here is the main bit used for all the perimeter cutting, additional bits are used for other features, as specified in drawings 3LS-41 and 5LS-41
**The actual router bit and sheet thickness values used in the Autodesk Fusion parameters ensure the parts can be assembled easily and that tool paths can be generated in the dog bone corners
Other Materials
Materials to be cut by CNC laser or waterjet.
| ID | Material | Thickness | Used For |
|---|---|---|---|
| AA | Aluminum | 1/8″ (3mm)* | Metal plate parts for 3/5LSQ trainers |
| BB | Steel | 1/8″ (3mm)* | Batten load parts for all trainers (lighting fixtures, scenery) |
| CC | Steel | 1/2″ (12-13mm)* | “Full” brick counterweights |
| DD | Steel | 1/4″ (6mm)* | “Half” brick counterweights |
| EE | Steel 14ga | 0.78″ (1.98mm) | Sheet metal versions of pulley block side plates |
